We were in town for the Night Ranger concert last night. I booked this hotel just one day before our visit. We were able to get a king size room for a very reasonable price. Check in was seamless. Sandy, who was working the desk at the time was an absolute delight and very helpful. Our room was quiet, clean and very comfortable. We did not use any of the other facilities as we were only there for the concert. The bar was only open 5-8 (Sunday) so it was closed by the time the show was over. We did sit in the lobby after the show chatting with some other guests and Brittany who was working the front desk at that time was so sweet! She was kept on her toes with all of the guests & she did it all with a smile. I did read some of the other reviews that for a moment made me hesitate to book a room, but I am so glad that we did. I have yet to come across a hotel that was absolutely perfect. If you’re ever in Newark, this is a place to stay. And an added bonus if you ever go to a show at the Midland theater it’s literally across the street. Newark is a charming town with a beautiful square to explore. We will definitely be back! I did not take any photos of the room as again. We were just there an extremely short time.

We stayed here when we attended an excellent Lyle Lovett/Leo Kottke concert at the Midland Theater. You cannot stay closer to the Midland! It was right out our window. The staff were very pleasant and patient (we never take the first room. It’s usually near air handlers, faces a noisy highway, etc). They gave us 525. Bingo. Right next to a rooftop of air handlers. They gave us 524. Perfect! Facing downtown instead. Sure you get some local hill-jack loudly racing their pickup truck down main street but that dies off pretty early. The microwave is in a very odd position that you need to open cabinet doors and bend over to use. The little fridge in the kitchenette was surprisingly powerful! Usually they barely cool drinks. This one froze our thermos overnight! Beers were decidedly cold! We didn’t even notice until we were moving out that there’s an even bigger fridge in the bedroom cabinets. And it didn’t even make an annoying buzzing. The pillows are comfy. The bed is nice and firm. Great on my back. It took a while to figure out how to turn off the constantly running a/c fan that’s right next to the bed. Once done we didn’t hear another noise from anything in the hotel. The shower deserves a few words….. My first impression was “this is a bad design”. You have to stand where the cold water hits you while you try to find the happy temperature mark. That sucks. Once you hit it though the water pressure is good. The shower head is high enough (I’m 6’ and usually have to crouch under shower heads) and they have the wonderful foot step about a foot off the ground so you can easily wash your legs! I’d give it an 8. Nice looking pool and exercise areas. We would definitely stay again!

The staff was very friendly and always greeted us. The facility was somewhat worn out. The toilet seat was partially broken and that made using the toilet a bit worrisome. The refrigerator had most likely been defrosted. So the freezer section had a lot of water. We had to spend time cleaning that before we could put food in. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The curtains did not close well and we were close to the well lit restaurant sign so that was challenging. Onsite parking was easily available.

This hotel is in downtown Newark which is currently going through a revival and is beautiful. The hotel is very comfortable and clean plus they allow pets. The restaurant and front desk staff are a gem! I thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks while I was there.

The only thing I have positive to say about this hotel, and the only reason it is 3 and not a 1, is the person who checked us in was great. I had two rooms and they were both DISGUSTING. The room I stayed in (Room 522) had long, black hairs on the duvet cover and on the bathroom floor. The drain in the shower was so clogged with hair and nastiness that a 5 minute shower resulted in the water being above your ankle. The water was still in it the next morning so I had to pull hair and muck out so kids could take a shower. My second room (Room 520) had urine all long the back of the toilet. There was so much urine that it had dripped down the side of the toilet and you could see dried urine spots on the bathroom floor. It was clear that the beds were made bu the rooms were not clean. Who know if the sheets were even switched out. I had no other choice for hotels in the area because they were all sold out. I did not report these disgusting room because I knew it didn't matter and I would get a chance to rate the hotel. As a Diamond member, I am very embarrassed for Hilton.
